Paul Gordon explains – “The idea for THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO HEATHER sprang out of a random thought I had: ‘What would happen if a 17-year-old girl from Ohio ended up being the New Messiah? What would that be like for her? And what would that be like for the small town she grew up in?’ “I loved trying to figure out how Heather would navigate her way through religion and politics, when all she really wanted was a boyfriend. The music sort of wrote itself and the very first person I shared the script and music with, Broadway producer Jim Kierstead, called me back an hour and a half later, said he wanted to produce the show and now here I am writing the origin story for our first cast recording.”
