Foreword by Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (2021–2024) Journalist Roman Romaniuk delves into Ukraine’s defence sector, revealing the stories behind its most iconic military innovations: the Neptune missile, which sank the Moskva warship; the naval drones that made the Crimean Bridge tremble in dread; the Bohdana self-propelled howitzer, which drove Russian forces from Zmiinyi (Snake) Island; the Baba Yaga bombers — and other weapons until recently unknown to the wider world. The Weapons of World War III: Ukrainian Experience is the first book to chart modern Ukrainian armaments and their evolution from bold ideas to groundbreaking innovations — technologies reshaping not only the course of the Russo-Ukrainian war, but ultimately the very future of the world. * Longlist of the KBU AWARDS 2025 * Foreword by Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (2021–2024) * This book is a comprehensive guide to the history of the Ukrainian military, its evolution, and the challenges it continues to face. * The English edition of the book was initiated and made possible by the Ukrainian Council of Defence Industry. * Compiled from articles by Roman Romaniuk for Ukrainska Pravda. Originally from Volyn, Roman studied writing at Ostroh Academy and at Kyiv National University. He has worked in political journalism since 2012. That same year, he was one of the initiators of a high-profile protest by journalists against censorship at the UNIAN news agency.
